We put a MegaSquirt on Tim Schuh's 1984 RX-7 GSL-SE. It's already fuel injected, but it used a restrictive flapper-type air flow meter. The MS allowed us to ditch the AFM, and of course tune for performance and allow for future mods and improvements.
This is the factory mess - er, harness. The silver box is the factory ECU. The two white plugs at the bottom are a pair of Molex plugs that we added. The harness for the MegaSquirt plugs into those Molexes. |
This is the MegaSquirt hearness, without the hood on the DB-37 connector. That's the end that plugs into the MS. |
We fitted it into the glovebox. Lacking mounting flanges, we just zip-tied it in. |
It just fits... |
...if you make a hole for the plugs to hang out the back. |
The factory TPS was a plunger-type setup, and didn't read the whole range, so we had to add a rotary TPS. |
The fact that tim was removing most of the crap on the throttle body (like cruise control and the secondary throttle close-off) helped make room for the TPS and a bracket. |
works like a charm! |
